Women & Children

Resources for Human Development has served on several task forces for women and children’s programs in different states across the nation, and was part of the original Governor’s task force that created protocol for all Pennsylvania Women’s & Children’s programs, and has long been at the forefront of pioneering programs for women and children in need.

RHD’s Family House programs – operating in Philadelphia – remain one of the few programs in the country that works with mothers and children together in a residential treatment setting. RHD also provides a full network of supportive services for parents and their children in programs like Families in Transition, a transitional housing program that features intensive case management.

RHD’s experienced mental health professionals work closely with school staff and families to ensure that students receive the help and support they need to lean and thrive. School Therapeutic Services is an intensive, short-term service offered in selected schools in Philadelphia in partnership with Children’s Interim Response Team, which provides emergency behavior specialist consulting and therapeutic staff support wraparound services.

Our RHD Kids programs work with children of all abilities. Stepping Stones provides specialized education services as well as individual, group and family therapy, helping children with behavioral or mental health issues reach their goals and return to their neighborhood schools. All the programs listed below assist women and children. Please click on the links for more information.

At RHD, we offer women the opportunity not to have to choose between being clean and sober and being a mother. We take a nurturing approach to women that have not been nurtured – and we work to heal the whole family.

Our focus on decentralization allows directors and staff the authority and creativity to meet the needs of the people they serve, allowing us to provide the highest quality in individualized care.
