In the Host Home model, Shared Living Providers open their homes and lives to individuals served by RHD. These providers are independent contractors of RHD, rather than employees, and can contact RHD Missouri directly to apply.

Individuals supported in RHD’s Host Home program gain the stability and independence that comes with living in the community in a family-oriented model, and receive support in expanding their circle of friendships, pursuing community interests, and becoming active, full members of their communities.
Individuals being supported in the community integration (CI) and supported services will generally have a one-to-one support staff either in the community (CI) or in their home (supported services). When appropriate, we will support a group of individuals who have identified or expressed a similar desire to participate in an activity in the community.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) will provide the necessary supports for individuals to take part in their community. DSPs will help the people they support to identify community interests and provide them with the support necessary to pursue and engage in those interests in a positive way. DSPs will also include some daily living skills, and seek volunteer opportunities, accessing and becoming a contributing member of their community. The support provided by the DSP is dictated by the needs and the preferences of the individual, and is flexible as abilities and needs change. Individuals receive supports as long as the services meet their need as identified in the individual’s person-centered plan. Support is not time limited, so that each individual may remain the program and receive services until they are no longer needed or desired.
RHD Missouri believes that more individuals can be served through individualized community-based supports. These programs benefit those being served in that they expand the array of choice for individuals who are seeking services outside of a traditional day program setting. It also provides an opportunity for those individuals who would not typically attend a day program to receive community-based and in-home support services. CI and supported services programs enhance options for both current individuals served by RHD Missouri, as well as offering options to individuals who are either served by other agencies, or are not receiving supports at all, giving them more options and a choice as to what setting and supports they prefer. CI and supported services create a wide range of opportunities for each individual to determine how they want their day activity services to look and be carried out.
