“Anime!”

Fine Line Studios (FLS) artist, Elizabeth Mayuku, has no problem naming her biggest influence.
From Dragonball Z to Fullmetal Alchemist to Attack on Titan to Pokemon and Digimon – Elizabeth, or Lizzie, draws on her passion for Japanese animation to create incredibly detailed, imaginative pieces of art.
Lizzie is also inspired by Harry Potter, Futurama, and Ever After: A Cinderella Story. She freely mixes and matches characters from these different universes, an indication of her deeply inventive approach to art, to make her one-of-a-kind pieces. Lizzie often spend several hours on one piece of art, showcasing her attention to detail. Her focus and determination are part of what makes her art so unique.
Lizzie’s artworks hang on a wall at FLS. There are so many that they almost cover the entire wall. She thoroughly enjoys showing visitors her favorites, such as “Alan in Wonderland.”
Lizzie has been an artist at FLS since 2018. In that time, she has been able to work toward her goal of becoming an animated filmmaker. In 2023, she plans to learn how to make digital art. Lizzie greatly values FLS and the staff for providing her the opportunity to work on her goals.
When asked what she has learned during her time at FLS, Lizzie shares, “I have gotten better at painting, photography, and talking to people.” She expressed her appreciation for the kind staff who help her with everything from working the kiln when making ceramics to selling her artworks. Thanks to the money she makes through art sales, she is able to visit Michaels craft store for “more paints, canvases, and sketchbooks.”
FLS offers adults with disabilities an outlet for unbridled creativity and self-expression through visual arts, music, and community involvement. They provide individuals with the tools and materials to create art and the supports to define themselves as artists.
Located in an office park in Bridgeton, MO – a half-hour from St. Louis – FLS exudes artistry and ingenuity, giving artists like Lizzie a creative and therapeutic space to practice and refine their craft.
