RHD Provides Support to Employees During COVID-19
July 23, 2020
For 50 years and counting, RHD has been in the business of helping people, including our own. RHD is committed to providing safe and healthy work environments for the people we are privileged to serve and employ. During the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, RHD has created new services and protocols (outlined below) to help ensure the health and well-being of our staff throughout the organization.
Donation of Unused Paid Time Off (PTO) to Help Fellow RHD Employees
RHD staff can now donate their PTO and sick time to help fellow RHD employees in need of additional hours. The COVID-19 PTO Donation Bank is a resource for staff who have exhausted their accrued sick (PTO) time. Donated hours will be used to cover the employee’s absence due to COVID-19 illness or an event that has totally incapacitated the employee from work. So far 82 days of PTO which equates to 615 total hours have been donated by caring coworkers. 75 employees received PTO assistance or a monetary donation and everyone that applied were provided information on available employee resources.
COVID-19 Employee Relief Fund
The COVID-19 Employee Relief Fund was established to assist those experiencing hardship after being temporarily laid off or given reduced hours. As an organization, RHD has dedicated $50,000 to the fund. Through the generosity of fellow RHD employees, RHD board members, donors, and friends, an additional $36,000 has been raised to date. Recipients may use the money toward rent, mortgage payments, food, bills, and medication.
Hazard Pay
Although funding has been limited, hazard pay is provided to qualified employees as another meaningful form of support during the pandemic. Hazard pay at RHD is for staff who are presently working face-to-face with a consumer who has been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19, and the consumer must quarantine or isolate.
