Mrs. Delaware Marci McNair visits with Delores at Wilmington NOW
The Wilmington NOW group home hosted Mrs. Delaware United States Marci McNair for a visit in March. McNair, an attorney with Delaware volunteer legal services, had lunch with the ladies and talked with them about the Mrs. United States national pageant in Las Vegas and the rigors of pageant competition.
Wilmington NOW is a residential program for women with chronic mental illness. The program focuses on supporting residents in developing skills of community living. Residents participate in-group and individual treatment and are encouraged to function as independently as possible.
McNair is a frequent visitor to local hospitals and human services programs, and was invited to the group home by Rechel Harris, Wilmington NOW's creative Arts Therapist/Behavior Specialist. Harris is a former pageant contestant herself.
"Marci was kind enough to let all of the ladies try on her sash and crown and everyone had their picture taken with her,'' Harris said. "She's a great lady."
